Mission statement

The church growth purpose statement is "First Baptist Church is a diversified body of baptized believers, celebrating unity in Jesus Christ, recognizes three principles of obedience as integral to growth: 1) Worship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, 2) Walking daily in our relationship with Christ; both corporately and privately committing ourselves to enriching discipleship, and 3) Witnessing the love of Christ by sharing our faith and ministering to the needs of others."

Worship

We define worship as the human response to the revelation of God. So, as God makes Himself known, we respond to Him. We do this through corporate worship, joining together in celebration, praise, singing, giving, and prayer. We also do this with our very lives, by being obedient to what God tells us to do. In fact, the way we live is a form of worship to the Lord. We must not misplace our worship, but rather our worship should be to our Triune, triumphant God!

Walk

We walk with Jesus by developing our relationship with Him. We do this corporately through many avenues of discipleship, such as Sunday School, small groups, Bible study, and the preaching of the Word of God. But we also do this privately, by maintaining a devotional life by reading & meditating on God's Word, relying on the Holy Spirit to speak to us through the Holy Word of God.

Witness

We witness to those around us by being living testimonies of what the Lord has done in our lives. We should live differently as a result of knowing Jesus. We should look for ways to share our faith, whether it is through our personal relationship or through community or other mission opportunities. Somebody witnessed to us, and as a result we experienced salvation. We must pass on the Good News of our good God and His good plan found in Jesus!
